PFS is a group of independent fiduciaries who work together providing services such as Trustee or Successor Trustee in Living Trusts, Personal Representative in Wills, Agents for the Advanced Health Care Directive and the Durable Power of Attorney for Assets. We manage family expectations, equities, bonds, businesses, real estate and personal property.
Kathy’s experience in the financial world comes from 28 years as an Executive Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and CFO of a corporation with $28 million in annual sales located in Santa Ana, California. Her responsibilities included the articulation and communication of company financial objectives, standards and policies, financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. She was hands on in negotiating banking and
leasing contracts and selecting and managing insurance providers and policies, including annual negotiations for Worker’s Compensation coverage, General Liability, Property, E & O and Directors & Officers Fiduciary coverage and employee health insurance. She was the Trustee and Administrator for the Employee Pension Plan and 401(k) plan involving over 200 participants and millions invested.
From 2007 to 2009 Kathy worked as Operations Manager for a financial advisor in Newport Beach. After the death of her father-in-law in 2006, she became the trustee of her mother-in-laws Trust and assisted her in coping with the activities of daily living and handled the finances. This inspired her to attend California State University, Fullerton and she earned her Certificate in Professional Fiduciary Management for Trustees and passed her exam to be licensed as a professional fiduciary in the state of California in 2009. Kathy also passed the Nationally Certified Guardian examination and is a certified guardian.
Kathy was born in San Pedro, California and moved to Orange County in 1977. She lived in Lake Forest for ten years before moving to Laguna Niguel in 1988 where she still resides today. She is married to John Fernandez, who works for the Los Angeles Unified School District and they have one son, Daniel.
